Graduate Certificate in Instructional Systems Technology
Program Information
The Graduate Certificate in Instructional Systems Technology is designed for currently licensed school system personnel, seeking the Special Endorsement in Computer Education by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (18079).
Others seeking the graduate certificate include Training and Development professionals and those pursuing Instructional Design credentials.
The 18-credit hour online Graduate Certificate IST program prepares students to:
- Integrate appropriate technology into learning systems;
- Conduct instructional analyses;
- Identify appropriate hardware and courseware;
- Plan, develop, revise, and evaluate courseware;
- Evaluate instructional technology systems;
- Work effectively as members of a design and development team that generates solutions to instructional problems; and
- Provide leadership in the field of instructional systems technology systems.
Program Eligibility Requirements:
- B.A, or B.S. Degree from a nationally and regionally accredited institution;
- Undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or better;
- An undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or higher for the last two years of coursework;
- GRE or MAT scores at or above the 45th Percentile;
- Three professional recommendations;
- Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills;
- For those seeking the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (18079) license, requirements also include a valid North Carolina teaching license and at least two years teaching or other professional experience.

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate, candidates are eligible to apply the 18 Graduate Certificate credit hours toward the on- campus 39 credit-hour M.Ed. in Instructional Systems Technology. Contact the program academic advisor for details.
