Program Information
The mission of UNC Charlotte’s School Administration program is to prepare innovative, collaborative, effective, and reflective leaders who will develop school environments that ensure high quality and equitable learning opportunities for diverse populations with the focus on improving the achievement of all students. Program graduates qualify for the North Carolina PreK-12, Level I School Administrator’s (Principal) License.
Program Objectives
Program objectives are aligned with the approved national standards of the Educational Leadership Constituent Council, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the State Board of Education’s Standards for School Executives. These standards serve as core curriculum components:
- Visioning for school improvement
- Creating a positive school culture, providing an effective instructional program and designing comprehensive professional growth plans
- Managing organizations
- Collaborating with families and communities and responding to diverse interests and needs
- Acting with integrity and fairness
- Interacting and influencing the larger political, social, economic, legal and cultural context
